Bobbi Brown Rich Color Gloss in Ruby Red

Bobbi Brown Rich Color Gloss in Ruby Red

This week has been quite hectic! First of all I just wanted to let all of my lovely readers know that I got into my makeup artistry HND course! Yay me! I am ecstatic and so excited! The only thing I fail to be excited about is the kit cost of £500! Yes you read that correctly! But who cares, you can't put a price on a dream come true (cheesy I know but so true). :)

Anyway, onto my review! The past few days I have been wearing this gloss to really see it's full potential in wear, longevity, colour payoff, texture & of course, aroma.

When I first took it out of the box I expected 'Ruby Slippers Red' but what I got was even better! It is a beautiful reddish-plum purple colour which I didn't expect at all.
When I first applied it, it went on quite streaky and took me a while to get on evenly. Maybe its the actual applicator?

There was a certain mint-like scent once applied and a slight tingling sensation. I really love the colour of this on me. It is like a nude on me, as my lips have quite a dark pink pigment to them naturally.

The colour payoff is great but isn't very noticeable on me! It didn't last extremely long as it's not a 'sticky' gloss like my others and I had to reapply after 45 minutes.

Overall I would rate this a 6/10 because there wasn't much longevity, it took a while to apply it because of the streaky application. It is a lovely little gloss and I will use it again, but will be reapplying constantly!

A big thanks to my wonderful sponsor!

MAC Cosmetics 'Revealing' Lipglass

I'd like to start off this post by letting everyone know I received an email this morning about my college course interview... I have my second and final interview in two weeks time. I really hope I do well but I am nervous to do someone else's makeup as a task as I have only done it once before! I also have a mood board and face chart to do before hand.. Another thing I have no experience in (face charts!).

This lipglass was sent to me by my wonderful sponsor not only to review the actual gloss but to go over a touchy subject - Fake Mac.

At first glance all is well, until it's opened. My boyfriend was my guinea pig to compare the smell of my 'Viva Glam Gaga' (pink) lipglass and this one. His first reaction was 'Waxy', exactly as I thought. But this may surprise many when I tell them, this lipglass isn't a fake at all.

Just because it doesn't smell like the usual Mac vanilla/chocolate, doesn't make it a fake. But if you are unsure whether your item is a fake please feel free to contact me and send me some pictures of the product too - strictly.beauty101@hotmail.co.uk

I really like this lipglass (excluding the lingering smell!). It applies so easily and just glides on. It goes on evenly and applies well with just one application. The colour is opaque and the finish is high shine. The lipglass lasted for just over one hour and a half which is quite a short term wearing lipglass but I reapplied.

I paired it with a nude-brown smokey eye and winged eye liner (my usual eye look). Most Mac lipglasses are quite sticky but this one seems to feel quite light and creamy. This nudey colour is the opposite from what I would usually pick but.. I think it really suits my skin tones and has made me more interested in nude lip colours.

This lipglass has become one of my go-to lipglosses as it pairs with a lot of different looks and adds a little 'something'. I really like this and rate it 8/10. I marked it down for two reasons. One being the smell and also it doesn't last very long.

Thanks to my amazing sponsor for the product!

MAC Cosmetics Pro Longwear Lipcreme So Very Good

MAC Cosmetics Pro Longwear Lipcreme
 So Very Good

Hi everyone, I apologize for not posting in a while. I have been busy working and I had an interview at college for a Makeup Artistry course yesterday. I had to do a project for the interview and it took me a few weeks to finish it as I wanted perfection (as usual..).
Fingers crossed I get into the next practical interview! :)

MAC's So Very Good lipstick is a creamy plummy brown. It has a slight shimmer in it which doesn't show up very much once applied and also has a hint of red. The application was flawless and I only needed one application as it is very pigmented. It lasted for over 7 hours but I then reapplied. After so many hours of wear, I was surprised my lips hadn't bled or dried out, thanks to the formula!

This pairs beautifully with a toned down brown smokey eye.
This is my first pro longwear lipstick from MAC and I have loved it so far. The biggest difference is the shape of the lipstick and tube. It is circular in shape and some may find this challenging to apply if they have thinner lips.

I give this lipstick an overall rating of 9.5/10! It's a tremendous score for a terrific lipstick.
Anyone thinking of buying a pro longwear lipstick should go for it as this has done me proud.

MAC Magenta Lip Pencil

MAC Cosmetics 'Magenta' Lip Liner

This colour really pulled me in.
It is a beautiful purple-pink shade and can be paired with MAC's Girl About Town, Rebel, Impassioned & Heroine. I have personally only used this lip pencil with Heroine, but the combination is stunning. It applies smoothly and prevents the lipstick from bleeding. It lasted for 5 hours and needed a little re-application. The great thing about this lip pencil is if you struggle to find a lipstick to pair it with, you can apply the pencil all over instead. I found it neither drying nor hydrating. The texture is soft and the application of the colour is opaque.

I have many other MAC lip pencil's but this one is by far the boldest colour I own. It can be quite an intimidating colour if you are just starting to use lip liners, but if you are looking for a fushia type pencil to pair with a new lipstick, I say go for it. I always try and use a liner to stop the lipstick from bleeding and to get the perfect lip shape. I would give this lip liner 7.5 out of ten. I do really like it for it's bold colour but I am just not that greatly impressed. Also, having to reapply it after 5 hours just isn't ideal if you are out and about.

MAC Dangerous Lipstick Review - Perfect for Spring!

 +MAC Cosmetics MAC Dangerous Lipstick

I just had to try this lipstick. The colour was screaming at me to pick it. It's true colour is red, but applies mostly orange and the lipstick being a retro matte didn't put me off.

A lot of people find retro mattes too drying and hard to apply, but once you have it on you forget the pain of having to apply it. This lipstick lasted for 6-7 hours without having to reapply. The colour payoff was gorgeous and once again the smell never fails to impress.

I can't believe how long it's taken me to try an orangey-red lipstick. I was truly surprised as to how much I love it! It is also perfect for spring time and will look great in the summer too. It is easily paired with a soft eye to focus attention on the lips, and paired with a dark smokey eye is also beautiful and not too much!

My overall rating of this lipstick is 10/10! I know the application isn't as easy as other finishes, but the end result is too gorgeous not to give it a perfect ten! If you're looking for a new spring time lipstick to add some colour, this is just what you're looking for!

I hope you enjoyed my review :)

And a big thanks to my great sponsor!

Viva Glam Rihanna Lipstick & Lipglass Review

Viva Glam Rihanna Lipstick & Lipglass
Review & Pictures!

Finally after a long few weeks I have found the time to do my review...

I have been so busy with a new puppy and getting woken up at ridiculous times, so again, apologies! I hope everyone enjoyed my last review as much as I enjoyed writing it!

First off I'd like to mention that I only tried the Viva Glam Rihanna lipstick (£15 R.R.P) today, but I have loved it so far. It is her second frost finish lipstick from her collaboration with MAC, the first being 'Who's That Chick' (shimmering burnt-orange) from her fall collection. The packaging of this duo is beautiful, it has a slight suedey look to it and feels smooth to the touch. It goes very well with the colours of the lipstick and lipglass.

Although this has been compared to Riri Woo, it is nothing like it! It is a blue-toned red, the finish is much more creamy and the colour is a lot more of a deep red and slightly shimmery. I applied it with no issues and it lasted for around five and a half hours. I did end up with the 'lipstick tashe' and had to reapply it to fill in the lipstick that had faded.
I used a red lip liner to edge it off a bit more but it wasn't a great match so I will add the correct lip pencil soon. I was disappointed with the scent as it smelt like an old MAC lipstick (waxy) rather than the usual chocolate scent we all expect.
But overall I rate this a 9/10.

I have been using the Viva Glam Rihanna Lipglass (£14 R.R.P) for over a week now and I absolutely adore this gloss. The only issue that I have with MAC's lip glosses is the stickiness! My long hair and the Scottish wind do not like this gloss simply because I find myself constantly pulling my hair from my lips. It lasted for around 4 hours alone.

The application is direct & simple, the colour would compliment any and every skin tone as it is not very opaque and has only slight pinkish-red colouring and gold/pink shimmer.

I have used this over my other red and pink lipsticks and it looks gorgeous over all of them. Even used on it's own will look beautiful. My overall view on this gloss is 9/10, if you own many red or pink lipsticks and enjoy topping them with gloss I would definitely recommend you use this product.

You should go and try these two beautiful additions to MAC's Viva Glam Collection as it may not be a permanent duo. So get them while you can!

I'd also like to thank my sponsor for the Viva Glam Rihanna Lipstick! :)
